Join our Antalya Demre Myra Kekova day tour to explore the Sunken City, Myra ruins and St. Nicholas Church. A glass-bottom boat cruise, a swimming stop and a local lunch complete one of the most historically rich day trips on the Turkish Riviera.
The ancient land of Lycia stretches along Turkey’s southern coast, and this full-day tour from Antalya takes you to three of its greatest sites. Begin with the rock-cut tombs and Roman theatre of Myra, visit the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre — the burial place of the 4th-century saint who became the inspiration for Santa Claus — and then board a glass-bottom yacht for a cruise to the sunken city of Kekova, where the ruins of an ancient town lie partially submerged beneath the sea. A swimming stop and local lunch complete the day. Hotel pickup and return transfer from Antalya included.
• Glass-bottom yacht cruise to the Kekova Sunken City
• Visit the Church of St. Nicholas — the original Santa Claus
• Explore Myra rock-cut Lycian tombs and Roman theatre
• Views of Simena Castle from the water
• Refreshing swim in crystal-clear Mediterranean waters
• Traditional lunch at a local restaurant
• Hotel pickup and return transfer from Antalya included
Your day begins with a hotel pickup in Antalya and a drive of approximately 2–2.5 hours east along the Mediterranean coast towards the ancient Lycian region. The landscape changes as you leave the resort belt behind — the road winds through citrus groves, river deltas and small harbourside towns.
The first historical site is Myra, one of the most important cities of the Lycian League. The rock-cut Lycian tombs, carved directly into the cliff face above the city, are among the best-preserved examples of this unique funerary tradition in Turkey. The carved facades feature doorways, columns and reliefs of ancient figures. Below the tombs, the Greco-Roman theatre is large and remarkably intact — one of the few in Turkey where the seating, stage structure and decorative reliefs are all still clearly visible.
In the town of Demre (ancient Myra), visit the Church of St. Nicholas — one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Christian world. Built over the burial site of St. Nicholas, the 4th-century bishop whose generosity inspired the legend of Santa Claus, the church preserves original Byzantine mosaics, frescoes and architectural elements that have survived nearly 1,700 years.
After a traditional Turkish lunch at a local restaurant, head to Çayağzı Harbour and board a private glass-bottom yacht. The cruise takes you along the coast to Kekova Island, where the remains of an ancient Lycian town — partially destroyed by an earthquake — lie visible just beneath the surface. Looking down through the glass panels, you can see walls, steps, cisterns and columns submerged in clear, shallow water. The medieval Simena Castle on the hilltop adds to the atmosphere. Before returning to the harbour, the boat stops in a turquoise bay for a swimming break.
