Soar over Pamukkale on a hot air balloon from Antalya. Watch the sun rise over the iconic white travertine terraces and the ancient ruins of Hierapolis from high above — one of Turkey’s most extraordinary experiences, all with hotel pickup and transfers included.
This is a bucket-list experience. A predawn pickup from your hotel in Antalya, a scenic 3–4 hour drive through the Anatolian countryside, and then the unmistakable sight of Pamukkale’s snow-white calcium terraces appearing on the horizon. After landing, you will board your balloon and lift silently into the morning sky. For approximately one hour, you float above one of UNESCO’s most spectacular sites — the Cotton Castle — watching the terraces glow in the early morning light and the ancient city of Hierapolis spread below you. A champagne toast on landing, a visit to the Hierapolis ruins and the terraces themselves, and then a return transfer to Antalya make this the most memorable full day of any Turkey holiday.
• Approx. 1-hour hot air balloon flight over Pamukkale and Hierapolis
• Sunrise views of the white travertine terraces from above
• Champagne toast on landing
• Visit to Hierapolis ancient city ruins
• Walk on the Pamukkale travertine terraces
• Experienced certified pilot — highest safety standards
• Hotel pickup and return transfer from Antalya included
Your day begins very early — pickup from your hotel in Antalya is typically around 04:00–05:00 to make the most of the journey and the morning balloon window. The drive to Pamukkale takes approximately 3–4 hours, passing through the plains and villages of western Anatolia as the sky lightens around you. This is a genuine adventure — not a short hop, but a journey that makes the arrival feel earned.
On arrival at the launch site, the ground crew are already inflating the balloon in the pale pre-dawn light. You are briefed on safety procedures and boarding, and then the basket fills up — typically 8 to 12 passengers with a certified pilot. The burn begins, the balloon rises, and then silence.
For approximately one hour, you float over the landscape of Pamukkale. Below you, the white travertine terraces — formed over millennia by calcium-rich spring water — catch the first light of morning and glow an extraordinary white-pink. The ruins of Hierapolis spread across the plateau, columns and theatre walls visible from above. The balloon drifts gently with the breeze. Your pilot offers commentary and manoeuvres to give every guest the best views.
After landing, a champagne toast marks the occasion. You receive your flight certificate, the traditional sign of a completed balloon flight. Breakfast is served before heading to the Hierapolis archaeological site — ancient Roman baths, the well-preserved theatre, the necropolis and the famous Antique Pool where you can swim among Roman columns (entrance fee applies). A walk on the Pamukkale terraces completes the UNESCO experience before the return transfer to Antalya.
